Asterisk also has been installed in the Sockris 4801 machine, for anyone
looking for a small lower power computer.
From my reading of this, however, it requires more Linux skills than
using a more standard configuration
There are many references in the asterisk users archives, including some
of the drawbacks
ATA's that have both FXO and FXS do exist, as Nick mentioned, the Sipura
3000 is one such device. Jim Day is using one at present, though the FXO
portion remains unused
The only outboard ATA that supports pulse dial in FXS that I know of is
the IAXy sold by Digium. A hard to configure device not easily setup
with a router in the stream, it also is fairly expensive for one port.
Bottom line is, there is no free lunch
If one wants a low power minimal access to CNET, there will be many
features not available, and more difficult to set up
For anyone wanting to try the wireless router, be advised there are many
different versions, not all will support what JJ has done. Careful
selection of the exact model and version number are necessary. See
