Such things are very simple if there's an MP3 feed on the net.
Thousands of radio stations have them.

http://stream.wbai.org/ lists WBAI's feeds.

For iTunes, you'd probably want a 128kbps stereo feed:
http://stream.wbai.org:8000/128k

But for asterisk, a 24kbps MP3 mono feed should provide more
than a full audio channel, so a simple

exten => something,1,MP3Player(http://stream.wbai.org:8000/24k)

would do it.  Or, for WBUR (NPR in Boston) you might use:

http://wbur-sc.streamguys.com:80/
