Also reminds of Michigan. Doug it does appear you guys got plastered.
Hope all is better. The prospect of a week without power is very
disheartening. I am afraid we are in for a similar issue here if we get a
good storm. With the currnt reduction this year of 700 people leaving by
Nov 30 I have never seen our system have so many broken and missing
crossarm braces, busted arms, insulator pins riding on the top of the arm
as we currently seem to have. All invitations for foul weather to play
havoc.
We have been told the energy industry is the last industry to consolidate.
There are too many local players in the electric and gas energy business.
Also, being told to expect a severe shakeout and consolidation in the next
5-7 years. The think tanks expect only 10 -12 nationwide players to emerge
with the predicted much better and lower operationing costs.
Interpretation brace for more resource reductions and longer outages. Also
look for contractors to do everything.

Yes, we heard that this hit over your way before coming here.
As of 10 AM Tuesday as I write this, our electricity is still out and
nothing is in sight in terms of restoration in my area. The schedule in
the morning paper is that our town and the City of Buffalo aren't going to
be back until late Sunday. Oh boy.
More pix of the cleanup progress at my house, taken Sunday and Monday:

To make things interesting, today it's raining and the wind is supposed to
pick up later which will likely shake out all the
broken-but-not-already-down limbs hiding up in the trees.
To keep things on topic, I did power up my switch briefly Sunday when I
turned on the circuit it plugs into to activate my outside outlets so I
could run my electric chain saw out front.
But, overall we're doing OK and this is nothing compared to the hurricane
damage down south. We still have the house and cars.
Doug.
