[VoIP] British PAX

I've recently come to possess a GEC PAX from the UK. It's a 24 station, 4
talk path unit of 60's (I believe) vintage with "Strowger" like Line Finders
and Final Line Finders. It supports extension 20 - 45. It runs off a 30
volt DC power supply.
I have posted pictures at my ftp site: ftp://76.19.225.163/pub
I know absolutely nothing about it. I would like to identify it and learn
what the options are. It looks like a 2-digit dialing plan, however, when I
dial extensions that theoretically don't exist, I still get ring tone in my
ear. There's no reorder signal that I'm aware of. I can get ring tone when
I even dial "0", which I find odd for a British PAX. The line finders each
have a "slug" (for lack of a better term) that sits on the top most contacts
of each line finder. If I remove each slug, I get no dial tone, so I'm left
to believe that removing the slug removed that link from service. I can't
seem to get two links up simultaneously with two phones off-hook
consistently. When I have the slugs in line finders 1,2,&3 as well as in
the final line finders, I can get two talk paths running, but each line
finder then tries to find the off-hook station. Seems like over kill for
such a small system. Again, I'm not really sure what the proper operation
of this unit is. So if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
You can dial in to the switch via CNET at:
349-8800 - switch dial tone (you won't be able to break dial tone)
349-8830 - rings extension 30
Thanks in advance.
