It sounds to me like you already have it working. :o)  My code is 
directly based on Max's work.

The hearpulsing option, which, by the way, must be set in BOTH 
/etc/zaptel.conf and /etc/asterisk/zapata.conf for the desired FXO 
port(s), will work with DTMF as well as with loop-disconnect signalling. 
It opens the audio path as soon as the FXO is seized, except during the 
pause between the last digits to provide echo training.

Note that it only applies to incoming callers coming into an FXO, not to 
outgoing calls from a station hooked to an FXS port.
