Not only have I seen a lot of coin phones that no longer allow 1+ 
dialing, but I've even seen the return of post-pay telco coin phones in 
some places (particularly rural Illinois).  I guess the expense of coin 
control equipment isn't worth it anymore when the phone is likely to get 
little use anyway.

It's also rather ironic that many COCOTs these days are a better deal 
than the telco pay phones.  In the early days of COCOTs, they tended to 
be a ripoff.
