Thank you, John, for your very...umm...nice...remarks, and Ahoy to you all:

As a way of introducing myself, I have 30 years' service with Ma Bell, "15
years on HOLD" ( telephone man's inside joke). I am retired and run my own
little telephone installation and repair business, "Dial Tone Search &
Rescue."

I worked in the Manhattan Avenue (NYC) district as a repairman, installer,
powerman, frameman, switchman (701 PBX, Crossbar PBX and Dimension 400/2000
PBX), toll-fraud investigator - during the time it took me to recuperate
from a fall from an icy fire escape in Harlem - and fire alarm inspector,
following the 2nd Avenue fire that prompted the Company to protect its
buildings, albeit after the fact. I worked on the Mt. Sinai Hospital
Centrex 701 (Strowger) that was the last large such machine. It had 8,000
extensions, several hundred DID and OG trunks, and had one of the biggest
1A2 systems behind it, with over 12,000 key telephones.

I have approximately 18,734 NYC telephonic war stories which I am always
eager to share with anyone who can't escape the room I'm in.

A a member of ATCA, I have a large collection of WE phones from the 50's,
60's and 70's. Many of then are pink. It's my way of staying in touch with
my feminine side. (I also have lots of blue ones, too) I have several WE
manual switchboards which will be interconnected with CNET.

I have joined the List and have reserved two office codes. Mr. Lee
Spenadel, an old friend from the NYC era, has generously offered all the
equipment and expertise necessary to get me on the CNET right away. I am
practically wetting myself in anticipation Just think...FREE long distance
calls!!! To people I don't know!!!

On a personal note, and to give balance to any opinions formed about me, I
am also the Chief of Safety & Security, Rodent Mitigation Officer, and Chef
de Cuisine, of the SIBTA.
