Market forces etc. Any item is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay 
for it.

*I* wouldn't pay $1784, nor I suspect would most people with more than a 
couple of brain cells to rub together, but there are a lot of rich, stupid 
people in the world.

Unfortunately I haven't found one rich and stupid enough to marry me yet 
;-)
