Rusty Welcome there are many of us who are in various stages of getting
electromechanical (SXS, Strowger, Crossbar) switches up and running and
tied to the network. This all started so we could link our switches. Some
folks are working on softphones while others have the complete blitz.
Others like myself are struggling with the details of Asterisk and time
management and still need to complete my SXS switch. But I have found a
lot of help form many on here and a few in particular folks have really
helped.
You sound like you would be a great addition especially in light of your
consideration of asking.
You will find this a great group and very enformative.
Welcome!

Subject: [VoIP] Joining the Network Without a Mechanical Switch
Greetings,
I would like to join my Asterisk system to the CKTS network so that I
will be able to dial other peoples' switches without having to go
through a PSTN gateway. However, I do not (currently) own any
electromechanical phone switches, so I was wondering if anyone would
have a problem with this. I do have some "interesting" extensions on
my Asterisk machine that I could offer to CKTS 'subscribers'... Would
this be good enough?
I am pretty familiar with Asterisk and VoIP and I know exactly how to
set this up; I just don't want to offend or irritate people by
connecting an electronic-only phone system to your network.
Regards,
Rusty Dekema
