[VoIP] Joining the Network Without a Mechanical Switch

Hi,
Amongst several electronic PBX's that I have, I am using a Samsung DCS
compact for my display phones as it understands pulse quite well and
will convert and sendorize (sp?) the pulse to DTMF to the trunk...i.e it
will convert a dialed digit to DTMF even after the call is completed on
the trunk. Very handy if you are accesing voicemail etc. from a vintage
pulse telephone...only drawback is that you can't dial "*" and "#".
Along with the Samsung I also use a somewhat vintage Mitel SX10...also
understands dial pulse well. My hope is to assemble parts and build up a
step switch in the near future, unfortunately for right now most of my
time is being taken up with renovating a 120 year old Inn here in Port
Carling Ontario.

On another note, John Novack mentioned problems with the Digium TDM 400
card. I've experienced similar issues which for the most part boiled
down to IRQ conflicts when multiple PCI cards are trying to live
together in one box. I did stumble upon a TDM 400 clone made by a
company called Yeastar, I tried ane of their 8 port cards and it worked
quite well. I configured it for 6 FXS and 2 FXO...spared a PCI slot and
overcame my IRQ problems. Just thought I'd mention this card as it is
reasonably priced and is working very well in a Trixbox install which I
have.
