There isn't a relationship between the two models;
they are just different products that have similar
functionality. The 3810 is a 1RU sized device while
the 1720 is more of a consumer desktop type of form
factor.

The 1750 can hold a maximum of 4 voice ports which
come in 2 port modules called VIC's. There are E&M,
FXS, and FXO VIC's; you can have your choice of up to
two types.

The 1750 is definitely quieter but to get one with the
required memeory, flash, and VIC modules will
generally  be more expensive.

Both products are EOL but IMHO, they just keep goin
and goin and goin.

You can check ebay for good deals!
