Whether that is a solution depends on just how finicky these ATAs and 
other would-be DP compatible things are.  #2/4/5 dials have an inherent 
change in speed over run down that may or may not be a problem.  They 
have a certain amount of contact bounce due to the use of a triggered 
pawl instead of eccentric cam. 

I guess Steve could fix some of these problems by manufacturing new 
governors from more modern materials, changing the gear ratios so they 
spin faster and changing the fly-weight spring constants and replacing 
the DP contacts with an opton-interrupter.  Can you get him to do that 
for $6/dial?
