Martin Harriss asked:
>Who's your provider for this? What's the monthly cost?

The Seattle number is from www.ipkall.com. Free.
The 0844 number is from voipuser.org. Free.

If you were asking about the internet service, FiOS is a Verizon
FTTP (fiber to the premises) service offering. The available
services and pricing depend on location.

In my town FiOS business pricing is so low, they'll never sell
another T1 for internet (and neither will Speakeasy).

 Up to 10 Mbps/2 Mbps $39.95/month
 Up to 20 Mbps/5 Mbps $59.95/month
 Up to 35 Mbps/10 Mbps $169.95/month
 Up to 50 Mbps/10 Mbps $349.95/month

Static IPs are only available beginning with the second speed
tier, and are $40/month extra for 1-5, and then I think it
goes up in blocks of 8. The IP addresses are actually assigned
to me in the ARIN database.

In locations not yet at the higher speeds, the business pricing is

 Up to 15 Mbps/2 Mbps $59.99/month
 Up to 5 Mbps/5 Mbps $169.99/month
 Up to 30 Mbps/5 Mbps $349.99/month

Consumer pricing is $34.95 to $39.95 for 10/2, $44.95 to $49.95 for
20/5, and $54.95 for 30/5 in NYC, $139.95 in Massachusetts, and
$179.95 elsewhere. Pricing depends on whether there are one-year
agreements or month-to-month and location. Fixed IPs are not available.

I have had a net reduction in monthly cost. I disconnected a $45
Comcast Internet service at 6Mbps/384kpbs but kept Comcast for Cable
TV -- the FiOS business service does not include TV, and a second ONT
(optical network terminal) would be required if I were to decide to
get FiOS TV, in which case they'd theoretically pull down my copper
and bring my POTS service in via the FXS port on the ONT -- a $22/month
RCN dialup account with a fixed IP address, and the $59/month ISDN line
that was used mainly to nail up an analog connection to the fixed IP
address 24/7. I'm still keeping my other ISDN line, which I would
really love to find an effective way to bring into the Asterisk (FXO
doesn't count, and at the moment Asterisk only supports European BRI).
BTW, residential ISDN is no longer available in Massachusetts, and they
will no longer do any moves or changes whatsoever.
