[VoIP] Centos and Asterisk 1.4

After several attempts to resolve needy requests from Asterisk to supply 
certain packages.files, in frustration I moved to the version 4 CentOS, 
now up to 4.4
Asterisk SEEMS to be happy with that, although there is much more to be 
done.
Not good news for those having a working 1.2 system .
Seems the only/best way is to build a complete new system
The only reason so far expressed for making the move is the ANI/CAMA 
support availability

Anyone else have differing opinions?

Is the list still working. I have seen NO postings for days now
