Hi gang,

Finally got my VT1005 talking to the Asterisk box here (thanks to John
Jones for a few helpful tips and moral support), and preliminary rotary
dial tests are downright dismal.

Plugged in two phones at hand here in the shop, a WE 500 with a #7 dial,
and an AE40. Neither can dial out correctly with the VT1005. Any digit
greater than about four doesn't register correctly, resulting in an
intercept tone from the VT1005. Tried dialing some CNET numbers with low
digit numbers, and got some weird results. Dialed 222-1112. Got 622-1112
and an intercept from Jayson's machine. Dialed 322-1321 but 422-1321 is
what went out the chute.

Need to rummage around here and see if I have any phones with "better"
dials. Looks like for reliable pulse dial service, though, it's still the
SmarT-1 kludge or messing about with T1 channel banks.

I'll play around some more with this and report what I find. Unless
there's some rotary dial settings in the VT1005 that can be adjusted, but I
don't see any in the service provider configuration manual.

One good thing, though, is it rings these phones just fine. My Sipura
SPA2000 I had to dink around with the ringing settings to get it to
reliably ring a 500 set.

Doug.
