I've seen Chinese-made versions on Ebay recently for
5.00 each.
I used to suction the coil to the base of my old
Princess phone, near the network. It generally worked
better than positioning behind the earpiece.
Evan Doorbell refers to a type I have been unable to
find, but used to be in the old Allied catalog in the
60's. This type was circular and slipped over the
entire earpiece. Because of the toroidal shape, it
eliminated outside hum and interference, but picked up
any magnetic field within the toroid perfectly.
