This seems true outside California, at least.
I think 35$/month is pretty reasonable for 2 bearer channels.
I never really did understand why the LECs didn't position
BRI as a POTS alternative, as it has been in Japan and Europe.

I haven't had any complaints with them, but then, I haven't
really had serious problems to speak of.

I've never had any problems at all with the FXS ports.
The FXO worked fine, except for the aforementioned echo
issues, which I suspect had a lot to do with my ridiculous
loop length.  If you look at a CO map of my area, you'll
think "why isn't there a CO right *there*" and you'll be
pointing at my house.  I live 5 minutes from downtown LA
and my loop is close to 30,000 feet.  It's nuts.

The TDM400 has been good to me though, for FXS.  Unlike
most ATAs, it takes pulse, and unlike the Sipura/Linksys
ATAs, it delivers CPC on both inbound and outbound calls
(the Sipuras only deliver it on inbound calls).  I had
an application that required it.
