[VoIP] Additional Asterisk Features

I agree completely. With 3 buildings on my property, when I was in the
shop I could rarely get to the front door in time when someone rang the
bell. Typically I got there only to find a delivery attempt slip from
UPS.

About 20 years ago I implemented a doorphone using a modified
loop-powered Radio Shack speakerphone. Since running additional wires
to the front door was a practical impossibility, it uses the existing
doorbell loop while preserving operation of the original doorbell.
It's homed on a line circuit of my crossbar system for answering from
any extension. As an unplanned result of this, when I added the DID
trunk, it became possible to answer my front door from any phone in the
world. If only I knew someone was ringing... I guess I need a webcam.
