Yup... ive had a few people I know burned on that one.   Playing with
locked hardware just is more trouble than its worth.

Exactly what I mentioned earlier.  I couldn't remember what the
circumstances were behind a relock, but what Don says is true.  That's
when
I bailed on the idea and bought an unlocked one.

If you do get it unlocked and happen to do a factory reset guess what
happens!!   It gets automagically relocked.  Just a FYI for anyone whos
gonna try.
