There are no socketed devices in the VT1000.

I have not yet heard of anyone who has successfully unlocked their 
VT1005v, which leads me to believe that the it's mask-programmed or 
fuse-programmed. The "instructions" that Trixter published on his site 
are speculative at best. The integration of Motorola as an internet 
appliance vendor with Motorola as a semiconductor maker is fairly 
significant, as it is with Motorola as a two-way radio maker.

The unlocked ones I bought from VOIP Supply work fine on touchtone and 
DTMF sets, and have much better audio than the Sipura units.
