You can get a new bootloader but not a new bootrom. Does anyone even have access to a prom burner that takes PLCC's? To tell you the truth, this seems like a waste of time. When you can get a 3810 with the right bootrom, Flash,DRAM, and modules for ~ $80-~100, I can't imagine buying one without 64M/16M already in it. The memory is pretty exoensive by itself.

It is socketed and the part number is something like BOOT-381 . It is
a
PLCC format so I guess it could be copied but I don't know anybody with
a PLCC copier. If you google for MC-3810 memory, I'm sure you'll find
the part number.
