[VoIP] Cisco 7960

Don,

I guess I am somewhat confused.  Are you saying that they Cisco doesn't
have a set which will support SIP?  I was thinking that this was similar to
what we had happen with the AYAVA network when we built it.  They were
trying to sell us mostly obsolete 74xx which we refused to buy.  We begun
buying the 84xx family of sets.

So I thought you were saying that Cisco was discoing 7940s, 60s, 70s etc.
and was curious what they are replacing them with becauwe we just bought
500 sets to be deployed by Xmass.

The 7970's, even with SIP, were never *designed* to be used on
anything but Cisco Call Manager or Call Manager Express.

Cisco has officially dropped any future support on the 7900 series of
phones for non-call manager based SIP call controllers.

We have quite a large number of 7960 and 7940 phones deployed with
customers.  Cisco has been good at fixing bugs we find, but no new
features are being released/supported outside of call manager.

That being said, I think people have got the newer CCM/SIP code to
work with Asterisk.
