Shane, this was up on one of the boards. I thought you
might have an explanation.

"I have no explanation for what I found today. I was
using a standard Windstream CO-controlled payphone,
with no long distance service. Just for the hell of
it, I dialed the un-supervising time number in Wawina,
MN, (218) 488-8463. To my surprise, I got a recording
by Pat Fleet, along the lines of "Providing the
accurate time and temperature is one way we're proud
to serve our community..." It then read the time and
temperature, but the time was one hour ahead. Wawina's
time doesn't have Pat Fleet on it, and Wawina is one
hour behind me. It's obvious that this isn't coming
from Wawina. If it was coming from my CO, there's no
published time number, and I've never heard this
recording before. I don't understand why I'm getting
this time announcement, and why it only seems to
happen on 488-8463. I also tried 488-8464, as well as
other time numbers around the nation, and all of them
did what a standard call to a long-distance number
does; gives me a CBCAD recording since the payphone
isn't capable of placing long distance calls. It's
quite odd that this number was somehow distinguished
as a time number. One thing I just thought of is that
maybe the last 4 digits are significant, as they spell
out TIME. Maybe I should try random area codes and
exchanges plus TIME.
If anyone has any thoughts, let me know."
