I have an Asterisk 1.4 installation as well and my Polycom SIP phones
display only the 10 digit phone number. I'm not doing anything special with
my sip.conf file.

Subject: [VoIP] Display 10-Digit Caller ID on SIP Phones?

I have an Asterisk 1.4 installation with a combination of SIP phones and
analog phones, connected to both a VoIP gateway and a POTS line. Most of
the incoming calls come in though the POTS.

Incoming calls are displayed on the SIP phones (Cisco 7940) as
<num>@<address>, where <num> is the 10-digit phone number and <address> is
the IP address of my PBX.

Is there a way to configure the system (or the phone) to display only the
10-digit number? That would reduce clutter on the display and allow other
phone functions to work more smoothly, IMO.

Thanks
