I suspect the answer lies in the Cisco configuration
Not for the faint of heart, the 7940 and 60 phones have a great many
version changes as well as several different protocols
The 79xx SIP versions are a huge topic.
Use Google and see what you can discover
So far I have only been successful in getting SIP version 7.1 to work
with Asterisk. Anything later fails on outgoing calls, and I haven't yet
devoted the time to digging through the XML files to see what it wants.
Conflicting answers can be found on the net as well.
My 7960 does display the calling number correctly ( 8 digits for a CNET
call ), as well as the name, but all of my stuff is still 1.2
Why? because it mostly works!
1.4 seems to still have serious problems.
Are you current at 1.4.18?
Some have rolled back to 1.4.9 or 1.4.13 for more stability.
