There is always a better way.
In the Zaptel source directory where you did the make , "make install" etc
if you do "make config" this will install the necessary startup files for
the Zaptel hardware.
Then do the same in the Asterisk directory, "make config" and this will set
the Asterisk to be loaded everytime you start / restart the PC.
Then all you need do is login then type "asterisk -vvvr" in a terminal
window and that will connect you to the console. At the end of the session
at the CLI prompt just type "exit" that will drop you out of the CLI console
but Asterisk will still be running.
