I know Doug Alderdice is or was running the patch on
his "366" machine. A site can disable the 2600 feature
while still keeping the "hearpulsing" features intact.
[My original hearpulsing patch was part of the 2600
stuff and I never created separate patches for the two
things].
When I dialled into 366 a few moments ago the
hearpulsing features were working but I was unable to
whistle off the busy tone. Maybe I'm getting too old
to whistle 2600.
For best effect, you want to use a facility where the
FXO card into the step switch is on a channel bank FXO
and NOT an X100P FXO. Also the channel bank ideally
should return audio back to you EVEN WHEN ONHOOK -
which JN's would do. The best part is you get to hear
the all-important selector "clunk" sound at the
completion of your dialled digit (suppressed on X100P
FXO).
On JN's I was getting frequent misdialled digits which
I attribute to the "channel bank FXO outpulsing
problem" (previously discussed on this list).
Also - J Novack - when are you going to hook up a
channel bank FXO line into your XY - so I can hear the
fast busy when dialling thru the 1st selector? ;)
