Steph,
I think it's a matter of semantics really. Now the Ohm has been around
forever as has the Volt and the Ampere, Henry, Farad etc so I see
nothing tricky about Hertz and Siiemen or indeed many others. I have to
say the mho was very inventive and has confused many especially when
they don't believe it is simply ohm spelt backwards.
What is simple and intuitive about units in other areas of engineering
and mathematics that are still in common usage e.g. Watts, Joules,
Gauss, lumens, Maxwells, miles, yards, feet, fathoms, acres, chains,
furlongs or even the ton to name but a few.
I have never felt that metric is any better than imperial, it's just
another system and like anything else education is the key to
understanding and using any system.
