[VoIP] Asterisk won't play sound (voice prompt) files

It seems like /usr/share/asterisk is used on some systems which have  
their own asterisk package such as Debian, Ubuntu, etc.

Did you use a package for your specifc distribution, or did you just  
download the source and compile it?
